RVH Honours top students with awards
RVH celebrates student excellence, together apart
This year, Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) will be taking celebrations online to honour student excellence at RVH.
Lise McCourt, president of the RVH Auxiliary, announced Ryan Khosrovaneh, a student at Eastview Secondary school as the Auxiliary’s $1,000 scholarship winner. In addition to his incredible academic achievements, Ryan is also dedicated RVH volunteer in the health centre’s Hospital Elder Life Program, Surgery inpatient units and the Cardiac and Renal program. He will be attending Queen’s University in Kingston to study medicine in the fall.
“The RVH Auxiliary is thrilled to honour student excellence, and Ryan’s dedication to his studies alongside his contributions to his extracurricular activities and volunteer service make him an outstanding candidate for our scholarship award,” says McCourt. “On behalf of the RVH Auxiliary, we wish Ryan all the best in his future endeavors and cannot wait to see where his excellence will lead.”
This year, five students received an Outstanding Service Award and the MY CARE Student Award of Excellence – the highest student honour at RVH.
The winners of the MY CARE Student Award of Excellence are: Jasmine Howatt, Eastview Secondary School, Tyler Mitchell, Barrie North Collegiate Institute, Maya Moore, Nottawasaga Pines Secondary School, Caitlin Stevens, St. Joseph’s Secondary School, and Ajmain Yar, St. Joseph’s Secondary School.
“At RVH we have always made it a priority to provide educational and research opportunities for students from high school age to university master’s degree level, nursing students and medical residents and we have many students who volunteer with our ‘Blue Brigade’,” says Janice Skot, RVH president and CEO. “Although we cannot be together to celebrate the achievements of the young and passionate minds of our student volunteers and co-op students, on behalf of TEAM RVH, I want to commend you for your dedication and effort to support patient care and for your service to our community.”
