CATHOLIC BOARD HOSTS VITUAL KINDERGARTEN Q&A SESSION FOR PARENTS
MAY 25, 2020 - BARRIE, ON: School closures as a a result of COVID-19 have presented schools and school boards with a number of hurdles to overcome. Elementary schools throughout the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board normally host Kindergarten orientation evenings in the spring and of course this year parents will not be able to visit schools. This doesn't mean that parents don't have questions about the important milestone their child is preparing for in September - in fact they may have more questions than ever.
In order to welcome parents and to reassure them about the next important step in their child's learning journey, the SMCDSB is hosting a Live Conversation with Kindergarten parents on Thursday, May 28th at 8 p.m. on the SMCDSB Facebook page or YouTube channel. The focus with be on helping parents to prepare both practically and emotionally for school start-up in September. The session will feature panellists including a principal, parent, teacher and will be hosted by a curriculum expert. Parents will have an opportunity to submit questions in advance using an Online Form or they can participate in the interactive Q&A by asking their questions in real-time on Thursday evening.
The SMCDSB encourages families who have child turning four in 2020 to tune in for the session. Catholic schools in Simcoe County, Muskoka and Parry Sound are still accepting registrations - more information about the Board's Kindergarten program as well as registration information is available at smcdsb.on.ca.
