Royal Brock Retirement Living has launched a food drive over the holiday season.

With the facility unable to put on its annual 'Christmas Bizarre' this year because of COVID-19, a door-to-door pick up drive has been organized and launched this week.

Stace Carroll with the retirement home said pickups for items for the food bank or for the SPCA can be arranged by contacting 613-899-7920.

Carroll said the drive is important for the community as many in the region have been having a difficult time during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I think it's very important this year, especially with the pandemic, there's a lot of people who have suffered through job loss and they really rely on the food bank." she said.

"There's not the events this year that usually really increase that, so we're hoping this can help and it also gives our residents a way to give back to the community."

Drop-off boxes for items are also available at the north entrance of Royal Brock as well as at the Royal Suites.
