School boards are planning ahead of a possible education strike on Monday.

The Upper Canada District School Board and the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario say their schools will be closed if it happens.

The 55,000 CUPE members consist of custodians, front office staff members and educational assistants.

Both boards say they feel they cannot safely function without the support staff.

The province and the union return to the barganing table today to try to avoid a strike.
