OAW: Improved accessibility measures needed for 8 million Canadians with disabilities, advocate says
New numbers from StatsCan shows that 27% of Canadians over 15 -- roughly 8 million people -- have at least one disability as of 2022, which is nearly double the amount noted 10 years ago.
With that increase in mind, Heather Walkus, national chair of the Council of Canadians with Disabilities, tells Patricia Boal this is an opportunity to inform policy decision and improve accessibility measures nationwide.
