    Relations between Canada and India have taken a nosedive following allegations from Prime Minister Justin Trudeau that the Modi government was involved in the killing of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey, BC earlier this year. 

    Omer Aziz is a former foreign policy advisor in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government, writer, author of Brown Boy. He tells Vassy Kapelos the countries had been talking past each other for years and a Eurocentric policy focus may have exacerbated issues.

    Multiple Jewish advocacy organizations in Canada say that the resignation of House Speaker Anthony Rota is a necessary but ultimately insufficient response to compensate for the parliamentary recognition of Yaroslav Hunka, who served in a Nazi unit during WWII.

    Michal Mostyn, CEO of B'Nai Brith Canada, and Michael Levitt, CEO of Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies, tell Vassy Kapelos that Canada has a poor track record in the past dealing with accountability and justice for Nazis, and providing the Deschenes Commission records into Nazi war criminals in Canada would be a good next step.

    There is a new interactive art exhibit put together by Indigenous artists that is now open for a free self guided walking tour around the downtown core.

    Emily Brascoupé-Hoefler, mixed media Algonquin Anishinaabe artist and educator and Shishir Pande, co-founder and CEO, Exar Studios joined Patricia Boal today to discuss the exhibit, the use of augmented reality on the interactive self guided tour of the displays and what it means to have this exhibit open the week of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation which takes place on Saturday.
