Ottawa Police are warning residents of a ‘grandparent scam’ that is gaining traction. A tearful person, claiming to be a family member, frantically calls and asks for money. As the conversation progresses, the caller will typically say they’ve been arrested by police and they require money or gift cards to make bail. Bail hearings, of course, take place in court.
