The Trudeau government has acted swiftly against Hockey Canada and Gymnastics Canada in recent weeks, freezing federal funding for both organizations until further notice. This comes after a sexual assault allegation involving the Men’s 2018 World Junior Hockey Team came to light, followed by an allegation against the 2003 World Junior squad. Over 500 gymnasts, meantime, want to see a third-party investigation into allegations of abuse. How much responsibility does the Canadian government bear for how these incidents have been handled?
