Algonquin College student William Bourgault will be watching all the action at Ottawa Race Weekend, but he is also raising money for a good cause. In this case, that financial donation is a pair of shoes. He will be collecting footwear as part of his initiative called Footwear 4 Kids, with all athletic shoes being donated to a child in need. William joins the show in Hour 2. Meantime, the Ford government is giving Ottawa City Council $24.1 million to support a local community housing project. Kate Burkholder-Harris, the Executive Director of Alliance to End Homelessness Ottawa, is happy that both governments found a creative way to come up with this year’s funding. However, a long-term vision is still needed.
