Ottawa Now – With COVID-19 still at large, growing number of countries seeing cases of ‘monkeypox’

A growing number of countries around the world, including Canada, are reporting unusual outbreaks of ‘monkeypox’. Not only is this disease relatively rare, there are no clear links between some of the reported infections, further raising concerns about community spread and undetected cases. It’s the last thing we needed to hear after as the airborne COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc. What exactly is monkeypox? How is it transmitted? How can we detect it? How can we protect ourselves against it? Dr. Angela Rasmussen is a virologist at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization at the University of Saskatchewan. She joins Kristy Cameron on Ottawa Now.
