Gatineau Police search for suspect believed to have damaged 70 vehicles

Grainy surveillance footage shows a man bending down to slash the front driver's side tire of a white SUV in Aylmer.

It's one 70 vehicles damaged in three separate vandalism sprees police believe could have been committed by the same person.

The first incident took place on August 8th, when the tires of around 20 cars parked around Queen's Park Street were slashed.

Then on October 17th one or more of the tires on 32 vehicles on Grand-Hunier Street, Beaulac Street and de la Cédrière were punctured with a sharp object.

Police say the windshield wipers or side mirrors of another 20 cars parked on d'Orsay Street were damaged just days later on October 21st.

Gatineau Police are appealing to the public to report crimes or suspicious people or activity. They're also reminding residents to ensure their property is well lit after darkness falls.

Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call Det-Sgt. Vincent Brideau at 819-243-2345 ext. 6134.

Police add, if the suspect recognizes themselves in the video, they should give them a call to give them their side of the story.
