Ottawa Fire officials say they received a 911 call early Sunday morning for someone lying out on the ice of the Rideau River about a 100 metres away from the Cummings Bridge.

They say the Ice Rescue team was deployed along with a rope rescue crew to retrieve the person, as there was a ledge approximately 10 feet down.

Fire crews say they don't know how the patient got out there but they are conscious, and now in the care of Ottawa Paramedics.
