Record cold start to Tuesday
It’s a cold start to the day in the capital.
The temperature dipped to 6.7°C at 6 a.m. That set a record for coldest June 26 in Ottawa history.
The previous record for lowest temperature was 7.2°C in 1970.
Environment Canada says the temperature in Ottawa will warm up to 26°C today.
Temperatures will hit 32°C on Friday, and 36°C for Canada Day.
Tuesday morning's temperature in Ottawa is in line with typical temperatures for this time of year in the southern hemisphere, where it's now winter.
At 6:00 a.m. in Santiago, Chile it was 6°C. It was 7°C in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In Canberra, Australia, the temperature reached as low as 5°C in the early morning hours of Wednesday, locally.
