New COVID modelling projections by health officials have shown promising signs, as daily new cases and deaths have been steadily declining in Canada. Meanwhile, scientists are beginning to grasp the vast array of health problems associated with this global pandemic. The virus that causes COVID-19 can attack several organ systems, and respiratory issues can leave some patients gasping for breath. Dr. Abdu Sharkawy, an infectious disease specialist from the University of Toronto, says the risk of people experiencing lasting effects of the virus is real.
