Ottawa Now – ‘If this was a teacher, and they had done this to one of their students, there would be no question’: Former city councillor calls on the province to amend the Municipal Act so councillors can be fired after Chiarelli probe

City council has stripped College Ward councillor Rick Chiarelli of several duties at City Hall after the integrity commissioner released a damning report into allegations of inappropriate behaviour. However, Chiarelli cannot be fired under the current rules and regulations outlined in the Municipal Act. He has to resign from his post.
