Ottawa Now – ‘Unlocking those funds is Step One in creating more space and more distancing in classrooms’: Ontario grants school boards access to reserve funds to get schools ready for fall

The Ontario government says school boards will have access to reserve funds in order to reduce elementary class sizes and increase physical distancing. Thursday’s announcement follows growing criticism in recent weeks over the government’s back-to-school plan. According to Ontario’s Education Minister, this plan ‘unlocks’ $500 million in funding for select boards across the province, while school boards that do not have access to these reserve funds will receive a ‘top up’ of $11 million.
