Ottawa Now – City Hall mulling over a pay-as-you-throw garbage pickup system
Back in 2012, taking out the trash turned into a major topic of conversation across our city, as Ottawa shifted to a bi-weekly pickup plan. Ten years later, Ottawa City Hall is discussing a proposed idea to limit the amount of trash you can dispose. Once you go over that limit, it’s a pay-as-you throw system. The Chair of Ottawa’s Environment Committee argues it’s a realistic plan, as not everyone is putting out three bags of garbage a week, with some residents using less than a full bag for their trash.
