2 Port Colborne men facing theft charges

Two 36 year old men from Port Colborne are facing charges after Niagara Regional Police were called about a suspicious person in a hydro field in Welland. 

Investigation revealed that two suspects had been stealing copper wire in the city's east end. 

With the help of the canine unit, officers were able to quickly arrest two suspects. 

Steve Laurin and Jonathan Erdei are both charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of break-in instruments. 

Laurin is facing an additional charge of mischief over $5,000 in connection to a power-outage in parts of Welland on Tuesday (October 8th) morning.  

Police say their investigation is continuing.
