Annual Take Back the Night event set for September 19th
Combating human trafficking is the theme for the annual Take Back the Night event hosted by the Niagara Sexual Assault Centre.
The international event, to raise awareness of gender based violence, is set for September 19th in the courtyard of the Central Library in St. Catharines.
In a release, Sexual Assault Centre officials note about two thirds of police reported human trafficking offences in Canada take place in Ontario with the majority going through the Golden Horseshoe.
They also point out the average victim's age is between 12 and 14 years and that's why the centre is now including information on the topic in school presentations beginning in grade eight.
