The father of a 12 year old boy caught driving an SUV on the QEW yesterday tells CTV News, the incident was entirely out of character for his son.

Police received several calls about an erratic driver on the highway near Hurontario around 1:30 yesterday morning.

They determined the vehicle was missing from a home near Islington and Albion Road.

Several police cruisers were involved and helped bring the child to a safe stop on the highway.

Police brought the boy's father to the scene where he was reunited with his son.

The dad says he thought his son was sound asleep in bed, until he was contacted by police.
