British Columbia's top doctor weighing in on the possibility of reopening the Canada-U.S. border

Yesterday Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland noted the two countries are working on a deal to increase cross border traffic.

Bonnie Henry says she can see allowances to allow cross border families to visit one another but she has concerns about opening the border to visitors.

The ban on non-essential travel between the two countries is set to expire next week.

Last Friday, Premier Ford told reporters the issue came up during a call with the country's premiers and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Ford says he was adamant  he does not want the border to reopen.
