Drug investigation leads to arrests in Fort Erie

Niagara police arrested two men from out of town after a drug investigation led them to a home in the area of Gilmore Road and Concession Road in Fort Erie.

With the assistance of the NRPS Emergency Task Unit,  officers tried to arrest two people when they arrived at the home in a vehicle around noon yesterday.

The driver attempted to flee causing damage to the vehicle and two police cruisers.

Police were eventually able to arrest the pair.

They then executed a warrant at the home and two other people were arrested.

Police seized cocaine, crack, fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine along with cash.


Omar Sinclair Frederick Downey (33 years old) of Etobicoke is charged with the alleged offences of:

- possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
- possession for the purpose of  trafficking fentanyl
- possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine -
- possession for the purpose of trafficking hydromorphone
- possession for the purpose of trafficking  methamphetamine
- dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

Maurice Edward Pratt-Downey (37 years old) of Toronto is charged with the alleged offences of:

- possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine
- possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl
- possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine
- possession for the purpose of trafficking hydromorphone

Detectives seized $ 5200 as proceeds of crime.

The two  people arrested in the residence have been released unconditionally by detectives.

The males in the vehicle were held in custody and will appear at a bail hearing in court today
