Government officials to meet with Indigenous leaders as train blockades continue
The federal Transport Minister will meet today with representatives from several Indigenous group and well as provincial and territorial officials in an effort to get the trains rolling again.
In the meantime, VIA Rail and CN Rail are shutting down large sections of their railway networks as Indigenous blockades continue.
Most of VIA's passenger service is temporarily suspended nationwide, including along the popular Toronto- Ottawa- Montreal corridor.
VIA says passengers who have had their trips cancelled will be fully refunded.
Marc Garneau is hoping to find a solution today to the rail blockades that began when a judge cleared the way for a gas pipeline through First Nations territory in Northwestern B.C.
On tonight's show, host Dave McMahon is joined by:
Karen Black, Owner and Photographer at Indigo Pet Photography based out of St. Catharines. Karen volunteers her free time to transporting dogs for local rescues and photographing them. She has created Paws for Oz, a fundraiser for Australian Wildlife.
Viive Tamm, Board Chair for the Golden Retriever Rescue. She'll be speaking about the organizations recent initiatives.
