GRAPE & WINE | Get your rainbow on for this year's parades
We are a few weeks away from the Niagara Grape and Wine Festival and planning is now in full swing.
The theme for the 68th Annual Meridian Grande Parade and Pied Piper Parade will be 'Parade of Many Colours', with organizers saying it will cast a rainbow of hues on the streets of downtown St. Catharines.
The Pied Piper Parade kicks off the celebration on Saturday September 21st at 11 a.m with children between the ages of 2-12 encouraged to dress in a costume of their favourite colour to win prizes.
A post-parade family BBQ will be held following the parade at Montebello Park with proceeds from the pay-what-you-wish BBQ donated to St. Catharines Community Care.
On September 28th the Meridian Grande Parade will be held at 11 a.m featuring marching bands, dancers, acrobats, entertainers and floats.
Food donations will be collected along the route for the Community Care Annual Harvest Drive to help stock the shelves of the local food bank.
The festival, which is Canada’s oldest and largest wine festival, takes over Montebello Park September 20-22 and September 27-29th, with local wineries also taking part.
