Hamilton police issue arrest warrant in shooting that injured child

7 year old shooter

Hamilton police have issued an arrest warrant for a 20-year-old man accused of shooting into a home, striking and injuring a seven-year-old boy.

Police say the incident happened on the evening of Jan. 23, when someone fired shots into a house from its backyard before running to a waiting vehicle.

They say the boy has been released from hospital but ``faces a long road to recovery.''

Investigators are searching for a man wanted on a dozen charges that include discharging a firearm with intent, aggravated assault and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.

They didn't give any information about a possible motive for the shooting.
