Hundreds attend vigil for 14 year old Hamilton boy stabbed in front of his high school
Hundreds of people attended a vigil to honour the life of a 14 year old boy who died after a stabbing in front of his high school in Hamilton.
Last night a large crowd gathered in front of the school, holding candles aloft and wearing anti-bullying shirts.
Friends and family say Devan Selvey was dogged by bullies at school.
CTV reports on Monday afternoon Devan called his mother and asked her to pick him up from Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School.
Devan was stabbed as his mother arrived at the school. "Everyone failed my son," Shari-Ann Bracci-Selvey says. "Even I did. I tried to save him and I couldn't get to him in time."
Other children have come forward, telling CTV News they were also targeted by the same teenagers accused in Devan's death.
A 14 year old boy and an 18 year old man are facing first degree murder charges in his death, which police have described as pre-meditated.
A funeral is planned for Saturday.
