Lincoln County Humane Society gathering evidence following allegations of abuse and neglect
Officials with the Lincoln County Humane Society say an animal cruelty investigation continues after allegations of abuse and neglect in Niagara Falls.
Officials went to the home on Dogwood Crescent after getting videos of alleged abuse involving a number of German Shepherd dogs.
Investigators say after they were able to contact the owners, one animal did receive medical attention under the LCHS's direction, but they are still gathering statements and evidence as the investigation continues.
Outside of the official investigation, the dogs were surrendered to the Niagara SPCA as praise pours in on social media for local advocates who raised concerns with the treatment of the animals.
The LCHS is the only organization in Niagara tasked with animal welfare investigations after the Ontario SPCA stopped conducting investigations in June.
The Welland and District SPCA and the Niagara Falls Humane Society followed the Ontario SPCA's lead and withdrew from investigation and enforcement.
