Modern Landfill Inc. becomes Niagara's 26th certified living wage employer

CKTB - NEWS - Modern Landfill

Modern Landfill Inc. is the latest Niagara company to commit to a certified living wage.

Headquartered in Niagara Falls, the waste removal company employs more than 85 people across Ontario and over 600 people in the U.S.

The latest addition marks a major milestone for Niagara.

Chair of the Niagara Poverty Reduction Network Glen Walker says 26 companies have become certified living wage employers, with over 1000 full time, part time, and contract workers benefiting from the pledge.

Officials say the certified living wage represents the minimum income needed to actually live in Niagara and participate in the community.

Right now, that figure sits at $17.99, compared to the provincial minimum wage of $14.
