Mother charged in death of 6 month old baby girl in Niagara Falls


The 25 yr old mother of a baby found dead in Niagara Falls has been charged with first degree murder.

At approximately 1pm this afternoon officers were called to a home in the area of Barker Street and Dorchester Road following the report of a sudden death.

When emergency crews arrived, a six month old baby girl was discovered without vital signs.  

The infant was taken to hospital where she was subsequently pronounced deceased.

Following an investigation by The Criminal Investigations Branch, Forensic Services Unit and Homicide Unit, the 25 mother of the infant was arrested.

She is charged with first degree murder.

She is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines via video link on Thursday October 3, 2019.

The name of the accused will not be released in the interest of protecting the identity of the victim.
