New data shows wait times at Ontario's emergency rooms increasing
New data shows patients spent an average of 16.3 hours in Ontario emergency rooms before being admitted to hospital in June - up from 14.4 hours a year earlier.
The data from Health Quality Ontario shows wait times were shorter for those not admitted to hospital - averaging 2.6 hours for low urgency patients and four hours for high urgency patients.
It also shows only 34 per cent of patients were admitted to hospital from the emergency room in the target time of eight hours or less.
Health Minister Christine Elliot tells CP24 that her government remains committed to reducing wait times but will need time to turn things around.
