Niagara Falls MPP introduces bill to give Ontario residents tax credit to boost tourism
The MPP for Niagara Falls wants to give Ontario residents a $1,000 tax credit if they travel within the province.
Wayne Gates' 'Travel Ontario Act' has passed first reading and now awaits approval from the Ford government.
Gates says people want to travel but they've been sacrificing their plans to help flatten the COVID-19 curve.
He hopes the bill would encourage people to support the struggling tourism economy while finding safe ways to get out of their homes.
