Niagara Health applauded for vascular access surgery wait times
Niagara Health is being recognized as a high performer in the province when it comes to wait times for vascular access surgery for dialysis patients.
Officials with the Ontario Renal Network say they are recognizing the considerable amount of effort put in by program staff to ensure patients received access to the surgery in a timely manner through the 2018/2019 fiscal year.
Niagara Health saw 82.3% of patients received the surgery within the target wait time, which varies based on each specific patient's needs.
A vascular access is a surgically created vein used to remove and return blood during hemodialysis
