Niagara municipalities preparing to act to make face masks mandatory


The face mask debate will continue this week in Niagara.

With Niagara Regional Council deferring a vote on making masks mandatory in indoor public spaces, some municipalities deciding to take the lead instead.

St. Catharines councillors will vote on a mandatory mask bylaw tonight.

Niagara Falls council will revisit the issue at their meeting tomorrow night.

Both the mayors of Fort Erie and Niagara on the Lake say they expect the issue to come up at their next council meetings.

On Friday,the city of Hamilton became the latest municipality to vote in favour of mandatory masks in indoor settings in an effort to prevent a resurgence of COVID-19.
