Niagara Region extends mandatory face covering by-law to apartments and condos
Face coverings are now required in all common areas in apartment buildings and condos in Niagara.
Regional council added the amendment to the region's mandatory mask by-law last night, following in the footsteps of St. Catharines council.
Some of the areas where masks must be worn include in elevators, laundry rooms, and lobbies.
The region's by-law has been extended until April, but council can choose to end it early if they want to.
During the discussion, councillors noted that not everyone can wear masks due to a medical concern or disability.
There are exemptions under the by-law for those people and for children under the age of 5.
