Port Colborne Fire announces $9,000 in fire code violation fines for Fraser Street property
Some hefty fines are being issued after Port Colborne Fire found multiple issues at a building on Fraser Street.
Officials responded to a complaint at 68 Fraser Street in April of last year.
During the inspection they say they discovered damaged fire separations, non-operational fire alarm and sprinkler systems, faulty fire extinguishers, and disabled smoke alarms.
During a court appearance last week, the operator of the property pleaded guilty to two charges related to the fire separations and fire alarm system.
Vishal Chityal was fined $5,000 while the company that owns the building, 1825081 Ontario Inc., was also fined $4,000 for failing to maintain a smoke alarm in a residential unit.
