St. Catharines regional councillor to ask for more evidence on mandatory mask by-law

CKTB - NEWS - Tim Rigby

A St. Catharines regional councillor is calling for more evidence on the effectiveness of masks versus COVID-19.

Tim Rigby is bringing forward a motion at the Public Health and Social Services committee this afternoon asking for Public Health to provide regular reports at future meetings to demonstrate whether the region should continue the mandatory mask by-law.

He asks the reports include evidence from provincial, federal, and international health agencies.

Last month councillors voted to extend Niagara's by-law until April 1st.

Rigby was one of five councillors who voted against the motion.

Regional council can end the by-law sooner than the April 1st deadline if they choose to.
