Stolen tools from Habitat for Humanity Niagara found during Welland drug bust
Some of the tools stolen during a break in at Habitat for Humanity Niagara have been found.
After arresting a Welland man on drug trafficking charges yesterday, police searched a home and found the tools that had been stolen from a construction trailer behind the Restore on Highway 20 in Fonthill last week.
During the theft, $14,000 worth of tools and equipment was stolen that were to be used for a Habitat build in Niagara Falls that week.
Habitat says one quarter of the tools stolen, were returned to them, and they are hoping more will be found.
During yesterday's search, police also seized more than $23,000 worth of fentanyl, crystal meth, cocaine, and hydromorphone during the arrest.
24 year old Chad Guthro is facing a long list of charges.
“When we received the call from the police, we were surprised the tools had been located at all,” said Keith Gowans, Habitat Niagara’s COO. “We are currently assessing the inventory and inspecting the tools to see if they are still usable.”
