Swan found on highway expected to make full recovery

A swan that was rescued from the QEW in Burlington is expected to be released back into the wild sometime this week.

OPP recovered the bird from the highway late last week and placed it at the Hobbitstee Wildlife Refuge until it was well enough to fly again.

The adult mute swan, which stands nearly five feet tall, suffered some road rash along with a bruised wing.

Police are not sure how it ended up on the highway.

But in a tweet, OPP joked, officers did consider charging it with jay-walking
