The region's Public Works Committee talks trash today
The company responsible for most of Niagara's waste collection is still falling behind on a regular basis.
Later today the Public Works Committee will be receiving a report showing Emterra only completed collection 38% of the time between early May and mid-September.
Although the company has seen improvement over the 5 month time span, the Niagara Region's Waste Info Line is reporting a 54% increase in missed collection calls compared to last year.
Since the beginning of Emterra's contract, the region has issued more than a million dollars in liquidated damages for failure to comply with contract terms and conditions.
Officials with the region say they will continue to explore the option of removing additional work if the waste collection company continues to lag behind.
