Niagara Regional Police are continuing to try and identify a man who interacted with a 12 year old boy on his way to school on Monday in Welland.

The boy was running through a parking lot near the Food Basics Grocery Store on Thorold Road around 9:40 a.m. when the interaction between the two took place.

Police have not yet determined whether a criminal offence occurred, but detectives want to identify the man and determine his intentions.

NRP believe the man was driving an older model, blue or turquoise Chevrolet van at or near the time of the incident.

He's described as black, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 25-35 years of age, with scruffy brown facial hair, a medium build and long brown dreadlocks hair in a bun.

He was wearing a black waist length coat with a hood, white shirt, grey jogging pants and work boots.

Anyone who may know the identity of the man is asked call the police at 905-688-4111, extension 3342.
