Walk A Mile: Covid Style to raise desperately needed funds for Gillian's Place
An annual fundraiser for a local shelter supporting abused women and children will go ahead this weekend, but in a new way.
Residents are invited to wear pink tomorrow and walk around their neighbourhoods as part of Walk A Mile: Covid Style.
The traditional event brings in much needed funds for Gillian's Place.
This year, the need is especially keen as many shelters are reporting a spike in calls for help as domestic abuse cases are on the rise during the pandemic.
One of Walk A Mile's Junior Ambassadors, 15 year old Kaleb Dobruncki, has raised thousands of dollars to support the shelter after it helped his mother 11 years ago.
Donations can be submitted online through the Gillian's Place website.
