Water meter replacement getting underway in Niagara Falls
Thousands of homes in Niagara Falls will be getting new water meters.
The city will send out letters to 30,000 homeowners this month asking them to book an appointment for the replacement.
It will take about 30 to 90 minutes to complete the job.
Once the new smart meters are installed, city staff won't have walk to every home to read the meter.
Officials say they will also receive more data from the devices and can notify a homeowner if they suspect there is a leak.
