City of Kawartha Lakes employee charged with theft
In February of 2020, The City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service began an investigation into the misappropriation of funds from the Kawartha Lakes-Housing Corporation. It is alleged that between July 2019 and February 2020, an employee stole over $50,000 from cash deposits. On August 20, 2020, 41-year-old Bernadette Huron-Legate of Lindsay, was arrested and charged with theft over $5000 and is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on October 29, 2020 in order to answer to the charges.
