Firefighters extinguish brush fire in Valentia

A fast moving brush fire near Little Britain Friday afternoon was quickly extinguished by firefighters.

It happened shortly before 1 p.m. at a Valentia house on Elm Tree Road. Dry grass and vegetation helped the flames spread and consume an estimated 200 meters of brush that divides two properties and connects to a wooded area.

Firefighters were able to contain the flames before it reached the woods and before it climbed a transformer pole.

The blaze, ignited by a nearby controlled burn, did not spread to nearby homes.

There were no injuries or damages as a result of the fire.
