SEARCH FOR MISSING WIND SURFER/PADDLE BOARDER

Investigation has been concluded

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) - On September 15, 2020 at 7:37 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a possible missing wind surfer/paddle boarder in Lake Huron, near Lakeshore Boulevard and Sixth Street North, at Sauble Beach, ON.

Several witnesses on shore, reported seeing a lone wind surfer/paddle boarder, wearing a wetsuit, who appeared to be in distress, approximately 100 metres out from shore. This person did not appear to make it back to shore, but that has not been confirmed at this time. A land and water search was initiated.

On September 16, 2020 OPP helicopter along with JRCC helicopter extensively searched the water and shoreline of the involved area.

Grey Bruce OPP conducted follow up interviews with the witnesses, and additional witnesses that came forward, it is believed that the person made it back to shore safely.
