Suspect Arrested for Armed Robbery in Hanover


On Monday, July 27th, 2020 at 4:47 p.m. members of the Hanover Police Service responded to an armed robbery at the Circle K convenience store, located at 189 10th Street, Hanover, Ontario.

The investigation determined that a lone male suspect entered the store and approached the clerk while brandishing a knife. The suspect demanded money and fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The store clerk was not physically injured.

A short time later, Hanover officers located a male suspect fitting the description a few blocks from the scene, confirmed his involvement and he was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

On Tuesday, July 28th 2020, Hanover officers executed a search warrant at a motel room in the 200 block of 7th Avenue and seized evidence that included a mask, clothing, a knife and money.

The suspect, 31-year-old - Jesse WATSON of no fixed address was remanded into custody at a bail hearing and is facing charges of Armed Robbery, Using a Disguise with Intent and Breach of Probation.

The Hanover Police Service investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in collecting surveillance and dash cam video from July 27th from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. between the Circle K Convenience Store and the Traveller’s Inn motel. The most likely route of the suspect was 6th Avenue that leads in behind the former John Diefenbaker Secondary School.
