Owen Sound man charged in connection with robbery and assault
A 39-year-old Owen Sound man has been arrested in connection with a robbery and assault earlier this week.
The investigation revealed that the victim attended the apartment of the accused voluntarily but was prevented from leaving.
Much of the victim's property was stolen and he was repeatedly punched, kicked and struck with a weapon.
The victim later attended the emergency department of the Owen Sound Hospital, where he was treated for fairly minor injuries and released.
Officers returned on Wednesday to the 3rd Ave West apartment with a search warrant.
Several items belonging to the victim were recovered along with the weapons that are alleged to have been used in the robbery.
Police also located Crystal Methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $1,500.
The accused faces numerous charges including Robbery, Forcible Confinement, Assault with a weapon, Uttering Threats, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession of Crystal Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking.
The accused has made an initial court appearance and currently remains in custody.
