Province-wide walk out by ETFO
More than 83,000 teachers are on the picket lines across the province today with no signs of either side backing down any time soon.
The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario holds is province-wide walk out today closing thousands of public elementary schools including those with the Bluewater District School Board.
The union also announced its strike dates for next week with the provincial walk out on Tuesday and the rotating strike to hit this region on Thursday again closing Bluewater elementary schools twice in one week, which the union says will continue until a deal is reached.
ETFO says their priorities include more funding for special ed, increased classroom violence and maintaining the current kindergarten model.
The province maintains that compensation is at the heart of the sticking points capped at 1% for all public sector workers which is something all of the teachers unions are fighting in court.
