UPDATE - missing teen found SAFE
Owen Sound Police confirming that 13 year old Zachary Harding has been located safe.
A tip came in to police around 10:30 this morning from someone near Centennial tower who thought they spotted a youngster on the trail matching the description of the boy.
Sure enough it was him.
Dad Ralph Harding's relief can be heard in his voice as he tells Dock News the boy's outdoor training paid off.
It seems Zachary spent the night in a cave and ate some berries.
He praises the efforts of the OPP and Owen Sound police in the search effort that came up with the best possible ending.
Owen Sound Police with the assistance of the OPP spent the night searching for a missing 13-year-old boy.
Helicopters circled the area around Harrison Park for several hours last night with no success.
Zachary Harding was last seen at approximately 4:00pm in the playground area of the park on Wednesday afternoon.
Harding is described as 5’ 5”, slim build, short blonde hair and was last seen wearing a short sleeve blue button up shirt and blue jeans.
Dock News spoke with Inspector Jeff Fluney around 4am Thursday who says once the sun comes up the choppers will be back in the air.
In the meantime they're asking residents to avoid entering Harrison Park until further notice while the search continues.
They're also asking them to keep an eye out for Zachary and to check their properties and out buildings for any sign of the boy and call Owen Sound Police at 519-376-1234.
Harding may attempt to avoid or hide from people.
Inspector Fluney says at this time they are not requesting search help from volunteers.
