West Grey re opens its playgrounds and summer ice
The Municipality of West Grey has implemented a gradual and responsible approach to reopening municipal facilities.
Outdoor green spaces, courts and sports fields have been open since June 12, and beginning this weekend, playgrounds in Durham will also open.
Playgrounds in Ayton and Neustadt are expected to open in the coming weeks, once staff have assessed and prepared the equipment.
As well, summer ice at the Normanby Arena in Ayton will be installed to accommodate the summer hockey training and skills program.
“I am encouraged by the responsible and respectful response from citizens as we work together to keep our community safe in opening up West Grey,” Mayor Christine Robinson said. “West Grey follows the lead of our experts - the Grey Bruce Health Unit and the Province of Ontario. Please continue to practise physical distancing, wash your hands often and, as of today, July 17, wear a mask in indoor spaces in accordance to the class order from our medical officer of health, Dr. Ian Arra.”
At the playgrounds, signs will be posted to remind visitors to stay two meters apart and keep hands clean and sanitized.
For the summer ice programs, protocols, including physical distancing, limits on capacity and non-contact practices, will be in place to ensure safety for anyone participating in the hockey camps.
